SALT DEVELOPMENT TO OFFER FIRST GLIMPSE OF NEW CULTURAL WEBSITE

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (Jan. 12, 2017) -- Schoharie Area Long Term (SALT) Development will launch its innovative website project, “Trails to Tales of Schoharie County,” on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at SUNY Cobleskill’s Upper Champlin Hall. The event will celebrate the release of a website highlighting cultural and artistic destinations in Schoharie County. Members of the press and the public are encouraged to attend at no charge.

The Trails to Tales of Schoharie County website (formerly called “Geo to Go”) will contain interactive maps and information about local points of interest. Individuals will use the website’s Google Maps to plan trips along any of the featured trails, in-person or virtually, to destination locations. Accompanying multimedia, including audio and video clips, will help users learn more about the points of interest. The first trails to be showcased are the Schoharie County Quilt Barn Trail, Schoharie County Beverage Trail, and the newly designated Farm Trail.

At the launch event, attendees will explore the website themselves and hear from individuals who contributed to the project, including Dr. Lillian Spina-Caza, the project originator. SALT Development will also thank the many entities who have collaborated on the initiative. Leading up to Jan. 26, SALT is releasing videos weekly on its website and social media, which contain interviews from trail destinations such as Green Wolf Brewing Co. and Lilac Hollow Farm.

“It’s exciting to finally share with everyone what we have been working on for well over a year,” Project Director Laura Morace said. “Trails to Tales captures so many of Schoharie County’s cultural gems. We want more people to experience our area’s riches. SALT is most grateful that with this project, we can collaboratively build upon the work local trails have already initiated, like the Beverage Trail, to get more people out exploring and experiencing the region.”

The project was made possible in part by a Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council grant administered by New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
